Cave Chaos is a platforming game released by Nitron in 2009. Players must take control of miners escaping the perils of an ever collapsing cave while dodging crates, barrels, enemies, and a plethora of other obstacles. The problem is the ground constantly is being built and carried away by bats in front and behind the player. Players must keep a pace in sync with the bats as the floor just might not have generated yet. They must take account of their surroundings, but never dawdle as the floor constantly falls away beneath the miner’s feet.
Cave Chaos features twenty levels of platforming fun. The obstacles the miner encounters as they move forward constantly increase in intensity, such as the massive rolling boulders. Fortunately the miner can gain power ups to aid his quest including invincibility, bombs, and a double jump.
The game supports one to two players, so tackle the caves solo or with a buddy. Players can work together or undermine each other as they make their way to the finish. The player who reaches the goal first will be rewarded a point at the clearing, and only one miner has to reach the goal to complete the level. Reaching a check point revives the fallen teammate. Of course, if both players die they both must start over, so some level of cooperation is necessary.
← →: used to move the miner left and right (A and D for player 2) tap rapidly left and right to escape when bound by enemies. ↑: used to make the character jump, pressing ←→ in the air after a jump alters the direction. The height of the jump is preset and can’t be altered by how long the key is held down. (W for player 2).
Invincibility: run through enemies and kill them with ease on impact Bomb: grab to kill all the enemies currently on the screen Double Jump: tap ↑after the second jump to jump again.
Tips and Tricks:
– Keep a good pace, but don’t always rush on ahead. This may be a “run, jump, and avoid things game,” but the environment scrolls at a different pace per level, sometimes just slow enough to afford to hang back.
–Sometimes opportunities arise from waiting for the environment to fall into place. – Interact with the environment. You must keep moving, but consider ways to get around each obstacle. Sometimes enemies can be used in useful ways, so experiment.
–Try and try again. The only penalty for dying is starting over. Dying in one way against an enemy or obstacle may very well enlighten the player to a new way to get around them.
